Today’s Feature Friday is someone who truly loves our city and works to help it thrive. Thanks Don Minichino for sharing about your love of Poughkeepsie!

My connection to PK: I grew up visiting PK for its night life – clubs, bars, open-mic nights. I moved here nearly 5 years ago to become a more active part of its renaissance. As an economic developer for Think Dutchess, co-chair of First Friday and Hudson Valley Young Professionals, and an annual Dutchess Dragon Boat Race team captain (2018 champs… Go Vikings!), I’m all in on PK.
Why I live in PK: My home is in a historic cigar and mill factory turned apartments in Mount Carmel, located near the waterfront and train station, right in between Walkway Over the Hudson and Mid-Hudson Bridge. It’s home to many whose families built the Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge, and neighborhood staples Caffe Aurora, La Deliziosa, Essie’s, and Farmers and Chefs. It’s a vibrant, fun place to call home.
Fav place to eat: Poughkeepsie Grind is like my second office. I’m always having meetings there. And I enjoy being their guinea pig for seasonal waffle concepts, like the chocolate Hennessey waffle over the winter. There’s always an Iced Mocha in my hand, no matter what time of year.
