Poughkeepsie, N.Y.: A Postindustrial City Ready for Its Revival

This Hudson River city, where manufacturing once thrived, is eager to join the upstate boom. And housing prices are slowly creeping up.

About PKGO!

In late 2017, the City of Poughkeepsie sent out a survey to get a sense of how the public felt about the future.

Thanks to a large number of responses, the answer was clear: Poughkeepsie residents felt strongly that the City’s best days are yet to come! A group of caring and creative citizens was convened by Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison and Think Dutchess Alliance for Business. Working collaboratively, a new brand was created to celebrate building momentum and excitement within the City. PKGO does not replace the traditional City seal, but captures the spirit of momentum and stands as a call to action.

From our research we discovered that people saw Poughkeepsie as historic but also modern. The new PKGO imagery emerged out of the classic beehive icon that symbolizes Poughkeepsie, but delivered in a way that is different and has lots of energy.

The Go means that Poughkeepsie is going places. New buildings are going up, old favorites are getting renovated, partnerships strengthening, new businesses are opening, and existing businesses are expanding. There is a lot going on in the City of Poughkeepsie right now. We want to hear your story!
