This week’s Feature Friday highlights someone who was a major part of our community. John Flowers was known for his radiant smile, stylish shoes, and tireless enthusiasm. He gave people faith and taught them that they shouldn’t give up. John was a passionate and enduring community volunteer; staging and helping to run community events all throughout the year. John Flowers and his volunteers, also known as his band of elves, could also be found in hospitals and nursing homes at Christmas, delivering gifts. From an Easter egg hunt, Father’s Day parade and church picnic, to Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for those in need, Flowers left a massive footprint on our community. His mission was “to share hope, happiness and humanity with people in the Hudson Valley”, and that legacy continues to live on through those that have continued his work. Thank you John for having a heart for others and a passion for this city.
