This week for Feature Friday we want to give Poughkeepsie Farm Project a huge shout out for all they do. Their highly diversified urban farm, located at the Vassar Ecological Preserve in the City of Poughkeepsie, is the home of all their programming. On twelve Certified Naturally Grown acres, they train future farmers in sustainable farming practices through their apprenticeship program. On their member-supported farm, they also provide hands-on educational programs, and improve access to healthy locally-grown food. The Poughkeepsie Farm Project provide healthy food to our community through their Food Share program and their Community Supported Agriculture(CSA), a program where participants receive weekly shares of seasonal vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs from June until November. The goal of their Food Share program is community food security, where all residents of our city can access a safe and nutritious diet through a sustainable food system that maximizes community self-reliance and social justice. Additionally, twice a week, they donate produce to soup kitchens, food pantries, and shelters in our community. By doing so they help ensure that high quality fresh food is part of the diet of those who use these services. Thank you for all you do to help Poughkeepsie continue to grow and thrive!
